Audition Notice: Looking for Women for July/August production of 4.48 Psychosis at Oakland’s Temescal Arts Center

Anton’s Well Theater Company is happy to announce auditions for Sarah Kane’s rarely performed 4.48 Psychosis, playing at Oakland’s Temescal Arts Center from July 20-August 5. Directed by Robert Estes. Choreographed by Bridgette Loriaux. Original Music by Greg Zema. Lighting Design by Nathan Bogner. Produced and Assistant Directed by Rick Razo.

We’re looking for women from 20s on up who can move well and handle difficult text. We would like to know if you can sing and/or play an instrument. The play does not have specific characters, yet we will provide sides that touch on various themes in the play.

The audition will take place at the Berkeley City Ballet, 1800 Dwight Way, on Monday-Tuesday, May 7-8, from 7-10PM. The callbacks will take place on Wednesday, May 9, 7-10PM. The auditions will be by appointment only and conducted in 20 minute segments. The audition will include movement supervised by the choreographer Bridgette Loriaux and text work with sides from the play provided.

To make an appointment, please email antonswell@gmail.com with your preferred date and time or call the director Robert Estes at (510) 368-0090. For more info on the company, please see: http://www.antonswell.org

There is a competitive stipend. AEA ok (BAPP).

Rehearsals will begin on June 10 or near that date. The rehearsal schedule will most likely run Mon-Thurs, 7-10PM, and Sundays, 6-10PM. However, it may be possible to tailor the schedule to meet everyone’s needs in the best way possible. For instance, if the actors have weekday morning availability, we may rehearse from 10AM-1PM rather than in the evening.

The tech will take place in early July till the opening. We will have to schedule the exact times based on the venue’s calendar. Whether in tech or in rehearsal, we will be working intensely in during the month of July.

The performance schedule is Fridays-Saturday, 8PM, Sundays, 7PM, from Friday, July 20 to Sunday, August 5 (with an added Thursday performance on August 2). The Temescal Arts Center is located at 511, 48th Street, Oakland, 94609.
