4.48 Psychosis Opens on July 20!

Anton’s Well Theater Company is proud to present a rare local production of 4.48 Psychosis, Sarah Kane’s searing examination of depression.

Our production features actors Anastasia Barron, Jody Christian, and Adrian Deane. The creative crew is the same one that produced last year’s “astonishing” Tender Napalm: Director Robert Estes, Assistant Director/Producer Wm. Diedrick Razo, Choreographer Bridgette Loriaux, Music Composer Greg Zema, and Lighting Designer Nathan Bogner.

The New York Times finds that 4.48 Psychosis is “breathtakingly beautiful” and that Sarah Kane’s language “creates the most persuasive and authentic portrait of what it means to be terminally depressed…ever encountered in a theater.”

4.48 Psychosis opens on Friday, July 20. The show runs Fridays and Saturdays, 8PM, Sundays 7PM from July 20 to August 5 (with one Thursday performance on August 2) at the Temescal Arts Center, 511 48th Street, Oakland. Tickets are $17-$20.

DONATE TO ANTON’S WELL THEATER COMPANY!

We also hope that you might consider financially supporting Anton’s Well. Please know that any donation you make will have a powerful impact for our company. We do not have high overheard (wait, we don’t have any overhead!).

All of your donation will go to the direct costs of producing our plays in 2018, which means your donation will go to good stipends for our actors and designers, royalties to the playwrights, and, yes, rent to the landlords!

In addition to to presenting the emotionally gripping 4.48 Psychosis by Sarah Kane, in September we will present dirty butterfly by debbie tucker green, which will be the Bay Area Premiere for one of England’s most challenging contemporary playwrights.

For all of this to happen, we need you!

My Own Private Shepard

The first play I ever went to by my own choice was True West. The first full production of a play that I ever directed was Curse of the Starving Class. And now I’m thrilled to be directing the Bay Area Premiere of Ages of the Moon, said title perfectly describing my lifetime engagement with Shepard’s plays.

I look forward to sharing this rueful comic drama with you!

Robert Estes, Artistic Director, Anton’s Well Theater Company

Anton’s Well Theater Company presents Ages of the Moon by Sam Shepard. Starring David Cramer as Ames and Don Wood as Byron. This Bay Area Premiere captures the essential Sam Shepard: intoxicating language, rambunctious comedy, the meaning of friendship, and a rueful appreciation of the confounding world we live in. Tickets are $17-$20.
